| Abstract: | This poster illustrates how librarians at Drexel University’s Hagerty Library secured the traveling exhibition Frankenstein: Penetrating the Secrets of Nature in order to market the library, greatly expanding its role on campus. This was the first time that the library initiated an event that moved beyond our usual support role. This poster will track the planning, organizing, and participation of the Information Services Librarians leading to a successful multi-campus event. In doing so, the Information Services Librarians stepped out of their usual liaison roles to establish themes for the exhibit, solicit likely participants and contributors, forge relationships with area scholars, represent the library at a variety of on and off-site events, re-affirming and expanding the library’s role as a center for social and intellectual activity. We will address the impact this outreach had on several areas: the workings of the internal department responsible for the exhibit, the local community, the curriculum, scholars in the sciences and humanities, and the student body. |
