| Abstract: | The aim of this thesis is to apply to several regional foundations in Indianapolis, Indiana to fund and develop a pediatric art therapy program at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital. The program is designed to address the negative psychosocial issues related to childhood hospitalization. The purpose of writing the grant proposals will be to secure funding for the pediatric art therapy program, which will provide individual, group, and family art therapy services in the medical setting. The grant proposals submitted to the selected foundations, introduce a pediatric art therapy program designed to serve the patients and family members who receive care at PMCH. This program was designed following this researcher’s graduate internship at a large children’s hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Two grant proposals were recently submitted, along with two additional letters of inquiry to the foundations requesting a letter as the initial approach. At this point, the researcher has received approval letters from both foundations. The grants will provide funding for a pediatric art therapy program at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital. It is the aim of the art therapy program to provide an opportunity for the patients and their family members to express their thoughts and emotions regarding hospitalization. |
